DbUnit 2.4.4 - assertEquals for Oracle 10 clob works on Windows but not UNIX (our CI environment)

Hi

I have created an expected results file that asserts OK on Windows but fails on UNIX with:

junit.framework.ComparisonFailure: value (table=AUDIT, row=0, col=AUDIT_DATA) expected:<...ices/AuditData.xsd">[
  <audit-detail>

User Name

    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data>Steve Sidejkick</data>
  </audit-detail>
  <audit-detail>

User Roles

    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data/>
  </audit-detail>
]
</audit>> but was:<...ices/AuditData.xsd">[
  <audit-detail>

User Name

    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data>Steve Sidejkick</data>
  </audit-detail>
  <audit-detail>

User Roles

    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data/>
  </audit-detail>]
</audit>>

Now I have tried saving the file (on my PC) to UNIX format within Eclipse but when I check this into SVN I notice my file is in DOS format again

The expected results file is:

<dataset>
  <SYNT_AUDIT AUDIT_ID="6556" AUDIT_DATA="<audit xmlns="http://www.myco.com/AuditData.xsd">
  <audit-detail>
    <description>User Name</description>
    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data>Steve Sidejkick</data>
  </audit-detail>
  <audit-detail>
    <description>User Roles</description>
    <mime-type>text/xml</mime-type>
    <data/>
  </audit-detail>
</audit>" AR_TIMESTAMP="[NULL]" AR_INSERT_TIMESTAMP="[NULL]"/>

</dataset>

Hi Steve,

you may be able to solve your problem by setting the SVN property "svn:eol-style" to "native" for this file. See http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.4/svn.advanced.props.file-portability.html

Matthias

Thanks for the suggestion but the SVN property is already set to native (which explains why it set it back to DOS on windows). Still something new I learned!

Steve,
please also have a look at this one: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=948472&group_id=47439&atid=449491
Do you use the FlatXmlDataSet or the full blown XmlDataSet? Please provide a test case if you're still stuck.

matthias

Re: DbUnit 2.4.4 - assertEquals for Oracle 10 clob works on Windows but not UNIX (our CI environment)

Matthias Gommeringer
In reply to this post by steven.hicks
I might have an idea of what happens (but still guessing since I did not try it out).
1. You create the expected result flat XML under windows which is why you have the "
" sequence (CR and LF)
2. This file is checked out as is (CR and LF remain since they are escaped in the flat XML attribute string) on unix and then compared to the results you load from the DB.
3. The results have been stored into the DB already (during test execution) using the unix "LF" only
=> the comparison fails since the comparison is really literally by default

To solve this one of the following may help:
- use the full blown dbunit XML and the put your nested XML into a CDATA section
- create a custom datatype and datatypefactory which is used for the XML columns and which denormalizes or ignores all CRs/LFs (actually this kind of an XmlDataType might be handy for other users as well)
- force the XML inserted into the DB to always use "CR and LF" (don't know whether this is possible)

Good luck ;)

BTW, please share this information with the community using the users mailing list. As long as there is no customer data around this shouldn't be an issue.

Regards,
matthias
